Building a Commercial Intelligence System for Renewable Energy

A Collaborative Approach

One of our clients needed a Commercial Intelligence System for their renewable energy division. While we knew business objectives, details of the system, its features and technology still needed to be discovered. We agreed with the client to build a Proof of Concept to answer all questions first.

This highly experimental and innovative work focused on finding what is technically possible and the main features of the system. We knew that the system would rely heavily on geospatial information and would have to integrate multiple sources of geoinformation. Our team experimented with various approaches using ArcGIS and Leaflet to design and develop an application that can handle all required data securely.

At the same time, our Product Owner worked with the client to get feedback on features and future requirements. The critical challenge we faced was a need for more clarity on features and multiple, often contradicting, visions. By creating early prototypes, we successfully brought all stakeholders into the same space and gave them a baseline to develop their ideas. Thanks to this approach, we created a clear product vision and backlog for the complete project ahead.
