Khiliad — Custom software and AI for established UK businesses

Khiliad / Custom Software & AI

Your businessis unique.Shouldn't yourtechnology and AI be too?

Stop fighting software that gets in the way of how your team actually works. Stop watching manual processes eat hours your business cannot afford. Stop forcing generic AI tools onto problems they were never built for.

Custom software and AI consultancy for ambitious founders and established UK businesses. We assess, we advise, and we build. A small UK team of senior practitioners.

Our model

Experienced people.
Fixed prices.
Shared risk.

Most software companies are set up to do what they are told. You write the brief, they bill the hours, you take the risk if it does not work. We are not built that way. We are partners on the work. We use AI to handle the routine parts, which keeps the team small and experienced — the people you hire are the people who think with you, challenge your assumptions, and share the responsibility for getting it right.

You get the thinking, not just the building. We ask the difficult questions. We tell you when something is a bad idea before you spend the money on it. And when the right answer is not yet clear, we share the risk with you instead of billing while we figure it out.

  • 01

    Senior practitioners, every time.

The people who win the work do the work. From the first call to the final handover.

  • 02

    Outcomes, not hours.

The price we agree at the start is the price you pay. No hourly billing, no scope creep, no surprise invoices.

  • 03

    Plain English, always.

Reports your board can read. Recommendations you can defend. No jargon hiding behind technical complexity.

How we work

Assess.
Advise.
Build.

Three things we do. Combine them as your business needs. Most engagements start with a conversation about which one fits — and end with a written, fixed-price proposal.

01 / Assess
Assess.

We look at where your business stands across technology, AI, processes, knowledge, data, and governance. You get a written report and a roadmap your leadership team can act on.

02 / Advise
Advise.

We act as your senior technology and AI lead, on demand. Strategic calls, vendor decisions, board education, regulatory horizon-scanning — without you hiring a full-time IT director or CTO.

03 / Build
Build.

We deliver the work itself. Pilot builds to prove an idea, then bespoke builds to put real technology into your business. One team across the commercial and the technical side.

What we do

Three packages.
Three ongoing services.

Start with one. Combine them as your business needs. Every engagement is fixed price, fixed scope, agreed before we begin.

P / 01 — Assessment

Find out where your business stands.

A two-week structured review across technology, AI, processes, knowledge, data, and governance.

You get a written report, a roadmap, and a presentation to your leadership team. The output stands on its own — take it to other vendors, hire in-house, do nothing for six months, or come back to us for the build.

2 weeks · fixed price
P / 02 — Pilot Build

Prove an idea before committing.

Pick one priority use case. Four weeks. A working prototype, real users, real evidence.

We build, test it with the people who would actually use it, capture what works, and produce a costed plan for the full implementation. You leave with a working tool and a decision you can defend to your board.

4 weeks · fixed price
P / 03 — Bespoke Build

Build what your business actually needs.

End-to-end delivery of what the assessment recommends or the pilot proved.

Tool selection, integrations, custom build where it makes sense, automation, training, rollout, and handover. One team across the commercial and the technical side. You own everything we build.

O / 01 — Technology & AI Leadership

Senior leadership, on demand.

A senior voice in the room when you need one. We pick up the phone and we know your business.

Strategic calls on technology and AI, vendor decisions, board updates, regulatory horizon-scanning, and the day-to-day questions that come up when your team runs into something they're not sure about.

Monthly retainer
O / 02 — Fractional AI Team

Capacity, without hiring.

A part-time delivery team embedded with your operations. Scales up and down.

Continuous build, integration, and maintenance of the technology and AI in your business. Scales up when you have a project, scales down when you do not.

Monthly retainer
O / 03 — Training

Build AI literacy, properly.

Training that survives past the closing slide.

A continuous programme. Modular sessions, masterclasses, workshops, and leadership briefings. New joiners onboarded as they arrive. Built around your work, your policies — not generic AI content lifted from a deck.

Who we help

UK businesses that take
technology and AI seriously.

Ambitious founders, owner-led businesses, established SMEs, and mid-market companies. We are not the right firm for FTSE-scale enterprise procurement, and we are not for buyers looking to fill seats with junior delivery.

01 / Founders
Funded or bootstrapped

Startups with budget.

Founders with the means to build something properly. People who want to challenge their own assumptions before they spend the money — and who would rather hire one or two experienced people than a larger team of junior ones.

02 / Owner-led
20–100 staff

Owner-led businesses.

Founders and managing directors who want to introduce technology and AI properly without building a full IT function. We help you make decisions you can stand behind without needing in-house technical expertise.

03 / Mid-market
100–500 staff

Established SMEs & mid-market.

COOs, IT directors, and heads of transformation. Either at the size where ad-hoc IT decisions stop scaling, or where a department is in place but needs senior, vendor-agnostic thinking on AI without expanding headcount.

Specialist practiceKhiliad Legal

We also have a dedicated practice for law firms.

Khiliad Legal is our specialist practice for small and mid-size law firms and in-house legal teams. Same people, same model. Naz spent nearly two decades as a litigation lawyer before co-founding Khiliad — direct experience of regulators, professional indemnity, and the realities of legal technology from inside the profession.

Why now

AI has arrived in business.
Ready or not.

Four reasons businesses that get this right early will be answering questions confidently while everyone else is still drafting policy.

01

Your team is already using it.

ChatGPT, Claude, and Copilot are embedded in everyday work whether your business has a policy or not. The question is no longer whether your team uses AI — it is whether they use it well, within the right boundaries, and on the right work.

02

The compliance picture is solidifying.

The EU AI Act, ICO guidance on automated decision-making, sector-specific rules from the FCA, the HSE, and others. The regulatory framework around AI is moving from draft to live. Businesses that put governance in early will not have to retrofit later.

03

Customers and partners are asking.

Procurement teams, large customers, insurers, and investors are starting to ask AI questions in due diligence and supplier reviews. Businesses that can answer them clearly win work. Businesses that cannot, lose it quietly.

04

The efficiency gap is real.

Teams losing hours to admin, knowledge scattered across systems, processes that take longer than they should. AI and modern technology genuinely solve these problems — but only if built around how your business actually works.

Why Khiliad

Six reasons businesses
work with us.

We are not for everyone — and that is the point. The businesses that work well with us recognise themselves in this list.

01 / Senior people

Senior people on every engagement.

Most consultancies bring senior people to win the work and juniors to do the work. We do not. The thirty-year technologist who sells you the work is the thirty-year technologist doing the work.

02 / Independence

No platform to sell.

We do not own a software product, so we have no vendor's incentive pushing you onto one. Recommendations are based on what fits your business — including using what you already have, or doing nothing for now.

03 / Bespoke

Bespoke beats off-the-shelf.

Generic AI tools were not built for how your business works. We build around your processes, your data, your existing systems — not around a vendor's product roadmap. When off-the-shelf is right, we say so.

04 / End to end

End to end. One team.

From the first conversation to the final handover, you work with one team. Strategy, build, integration, training, governance, change management — all inside our scope. One contract. One place to come back to.

05 / Partners

Partners, not suppliers.

We share the risk. We ask the difficult questions. We tell you when something is the wrong thing to build before you spend the money on it. You hire us for our judgement, not just our hands.

06 / Plain English

Plain English. Fixed pricing.

Reports your board can read. Engagements with prices agreed before we start. No hourly billing, no scope creep, no jargon hiding behind technical complexity. If we cannot explain it in plain English, we are not doing it right.
