Case study
Six developers inside a company-wide programme.
How we supplied developers to Uniper's digital programme of 17 teams, and why Uniper later moved half of them into another supplier's team.
- Client
- Uniper, for COODE (Chief Operating Officer Digital Evolution), its company-wide digital programme
- What we supplied
- Six developers, and the programme's agile coach, who was also product owner for several projects
- How it worked
- Inside a programme of 17 teams from Uniper and several outside suppliers
- When
- 2022 and 2023
The challenge.
In 2022 and 2023, Uniper ran a digital programme across the whole company, called COODE. It brought together 17 teams, from Uniper itself and several outside suppliers.
A programme that size needs people who can join quickly, fit the programme's way of working, and deliver alongside teams from other companies.
What we supplied.
- Six developers. They delivered several projects for the programme, sometimes as one team and sometimes split in two.
- An agile coach for the whole programme. Jimmy advised the programme's leadership, and coached teams from other suppliers.
- A product owner. Jimmy was also product owner for several projects, keeping each one pointed at what the business needed.
The hard parts.
- Many suppliers, one programme. Teams from Uniper and several suppliers had to work as one programme. As agile coach, Jimmy worked with the programme's leadership and coached other suppliers' teams.
- Strengthening another supplier's team. Uniper moved half of our team into another supplier's team, to improve its delivery and fix the problems it was facing.
The result.
- 6 developers
- supplied to the programme
- 17 teams
- in the programme, from Uniper and several suppliers
- Half
- of our team moved in to strengthen another supplier's team
Our developers delivered several projects across the programme. Uniper then chose to move half of them into another supplier's team, to improve its delivery. Jimmy coached teams across the programme, including other suppliers' teams.
We've also supplied developers and designers to other technology firms, working under their names, so we don't name them here.
